GETTING THE UPDATE TO UNIX
ZIP UTILITY
**** ALWAYS TAKE AT LEAST ONE BACKUP AND CONFIRM
THE BACKUP AS VALID BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY UPDATE!! ****
Updates are semi-manual installations. You must first decide which update
you need to download (required updates must be done first and in order).
Update prior to version 2003.4.6.33 (download file is 34600.EXE) the update
instructions are different. Assuming you are on a version higher than that,
you will download the file VOCAB.EXE. Click on
the appropriate operating system link above and follow the instructions.
System Designs uses PKZIP, WINZIP, UNIZIP or the Linux standard of ZIP.
In non-UNIX/Linux systems the downloads are self-extracting EXE files and
PKZIP or WINZIP are not required. However, it is recommended that you download
the appropriate program (UNIZIP for SCO UNIX) and install them because
CustomWare® uses these programs for its internal compressed
backups. PKZIP and WINZIP are shareware. Unizip requires a license
purchase.
Because of the many types of configurations for
CustomWare®, getting the update file to the proper machine
and directory can be confusing, especially if your
CustomWare® computer is not connected to the internet. MS-DOS
and Windows based installations are best run from the DOS prompt (C:>).
UNIX and Linux systems, which are the most common, can be connected via serial
cables or networked. Please select the appropriate configuration:
